Become part of our story! The Haven welcomes volunteers (18 and over) 365 days a year. We are unable to host volunteers under the age of 18.
There is a place for everyone at Hercules’ Haven, our present volunteer needs are listed below. Most importantly, we need passionate hearts who can care for animals, help guests grow healing relationships with the furry residents, respect all creatures (and people) and assist with the tasks of daily operation.
Those wishing to volunteer must attend a Volunteer Orientation and complete the Application Form below. Some activities will require additional training sessions. The information submitted will help us place you in tasks that best fit your skills and interests.
Volunteer Needs
Animal Care and Clean-Up
Animal Care and Clean-Up is twice a day, every day. We rely on our volunteers to ensure our furry and feathered friends receive the care that they deserve. The residents don’t take a break from eating, drinking and pooping. They need food, water, grooming, belly rubs, fresh bedding, friendly interaction and room service (cleaning up poop). Morning chores are between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Evening chores are between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. It is helpful, but not necessary to be able to lift 20 to 50 lbs.
Construction & Repair
There are always fences to build, trees to trim and buildings to repair and expand at Hercules’ Haven. If you and a hammer are good friends, then we would love to have you help out in this area.
Fundraising and Marketing
Hercules’ Haven is completely supported through the generosity of others. You can assist with a Haven fundraiser or plan and host your own event. If you have a flair for research and writing, the Haven could use a Grant Writer. We also need a gifted writer who would be able to help us share our stories.
